“When our daughter was two and our son was nine months old, I decided I wanted to return to work part-time. My only hesitation was that we could find child care. I wasn’t very familiar with the Montessori Method prior to that but I walked into the school for an initial tour and felt so comforted. Here was a clean, safe, educational space for our kids with attentive teachers. On our first day of drop-off Miss Erin was playing the overture from “The Marriage of Figaro” which is my favorite opera. I knew we had found the right place.

Our children learned so much at BMRS! The structure in place gave them the freedom to choose what they wanted to learn about and the materials to do so. Titan loved the human body puzzle and Cambria loved tracing her cursive letters.

There was plenty of all-weather outdoor time during each day. They loved teaching themselves how to “pump their legs” on the swing. There was a garden where they picked fresh vegetables. Classroom animals for cuddling and care.

It was just the best experience for our family. Even though we moved away from Virginia, I still follow All of the school’s social media accounts and marvel at all of the enriching activities and opportunities the students have there. BRMS is truly the most amazing environment for growing children!”

The mission of Blue Ridge Montessori School is to aid children in the task of self-construction in a nurturing environment. In the spirit of Dr. Maria Montessori, Blue Ridge Montessori promotes peace, concentration, creative problem solving, order, and independence. Social, emotional and academic growth is encouraged in a developmentally appropriate learning environment. Respect for the child and all living things are at the heart of all we do. 

BRMS is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization allowing for donations to the school to be tax deductible to the full extent permissible by law.
